The IAMX music project we've been used to listening to for a long time is a solo music project created by Chris Corner (a musician who was previously the frontman of Sneaker Pimps). The official date of foundation falls on 2004. The project was created in London.
It is considered completely independent, and in addition to the musical component, it includes experimental light effects, as well as spontaneous unpredictable theatrical performances. Due to this, it is possible to interest a large number of people. The audience begins to be attracted by everything that happens on stage.
If we talk about the musical component of IAMX, whose genres are quite diverse, this project demonstrates many different styles, from electronic rock to dark cabaret.
Corner's wide range and rich voice, as well as his method of sound programming, can be attributed to the features of IAMX sound.
The project was based in Berlin, starting in 2006 and ending in 2014. The text part of the musical compositions was devoted to the themes of sexual self-identification, death, love, drug addiction, alienation, political views, etc.
Around mid-2014, the project decided to move from Germany to Los Angeles.
Live concerts are notable for being extraordinarily expressive. IAMX soloist Chris Corner often appears in a provocatively eccentric way. For the most part, his concerts consist of outrageous costumes, stage decorations that he creates himself, as well as the musicians he invites to perform together.
You just can't get a complete picture of how the concerts go in your head until you see the video series, which is projected on the monitors in the course of the performances.
These videos are very contradictory, they were edited by Corner himself. This also included his own video clips of the project and fragments from arthouse and auteur cinema, which he later directed.
To date, the project boasts that Chris has already presented 8 music collections. In fact, he worked on all of the albums on his own.
Albums
The first collection Kiss + Swallow, the public saw in 2004. It included melancholic dark tracks, their lyrics were related to psychological themes, longing, etc.
The second collection of The Alternative was presented in Europe in 2006.
The project's third IAMX album, Kingdom of Welcome Addiction, is dated 2009. He had significant differences from the first two. They consisted of a more complex sound.
The presentation was preceded by a new song "Think of England", which in November 7, 2008 could be easily downloaded.
Two years later, Chris wrote on Twitter that he is actively working on the 4th music collection, recorded in a professional studio - IAMX4.
In 2012, on Facebook and Twitter, the project again announced that work was underway on the 5th in a row music collection, called IAMX5.
2018 is a collection of Alive In New Light.
